As she Anita got older , she became more and more interested in the intellectual aspect of the study of Hinduism. She actually enjoyed studying the Bhagavad Gita and the Vedas, learning about cause and effect , destiny versus free will , and similar topics ; and she loved the discourses and debates on these subjects. Also, she prayed and meditated , because she felt it cleared her thoughts at that time. There was much about it that acutely mede sense to her, even though many of the beliefs of her culture didn't seem rational , such as suppressing women , expecting them to be subservient to man, and arranging marriage against people's will . Nowhere is any of this stipulated in the Vedas ! Despite my exposure to such a broad range of cultures and religions but she was still challenging her culture and tradition as she move farther in life and searched for balance in her life .
